If God is sovereign, then isn't He also responsible? If the Almighty "elects" some people and hardens the hearts of others, aren't we off the hook? We can't sin if we can't really choose. Paul, playing devil's advocate in Romans 9, puts it this way: “Why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist His will?” He answers with an earthy illustration.
