God is going to have to open Peter's mind...slowly. During all of Simon's lifetime, and for many lifetimes before, what we call the "Old" Covenant was the only covenant. And it was an agreement between God, and the people of Israel, alone. It wouldn't be easy to get used to the idea of a covenant open to everyone. That old dog Peter was going to have to learn some new tricks.
