When we talk about "The Rich Man and Lazarus," we're leaving someone out. Now, the rich fellow had never struck up a conversation with Lazarus while the two were alive - and apparently he didn't have any practice at talking to God, either. So in Hades he addresses himself to the man who seems to be in charge: Father Abraham. He's the third man in the story. Jesus spoke this illustration for the benefit of His disciples.
