For The Joy Set Before Him

What was "the joy set before" Jesus? In Hebrews 12 we get this instruction: "...looking only at Jesus, the Originator and Completer of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the Cross...." What joy is that? We could try to imagine what it would take to incentivize us to go through utter humiliation, rejection, pain, abandonment and death. Or would anything be worth that? Fortunately, we can get the answer from Scripture.
