Jesus taught that God reigns supreme over human events...in such a way that our choices are real, and carry real consequences. Our life here is not a puppet show. But neither is it an "improv" performance, with the outcome unknown. Somehow our theology has to embrace both those truths: God is sovereign; and man does have free will. It's a mystery, but there are plenty of those. The Lord took his audience into the thick of the issue in Matthew, chapter 11.
